The Normanby Mews project involved recladding and reroofing of a 48 unit apartment complex comprising of four x four story buildings.
The project was undertaken in four separable portions allowing for a ‘staggered programme’ and re-occupation by residents as the contract progressed and each block was completed.
Each block had individual scaffold and weather protective shrink-wrap encapsulation. Existing fibre cement cladding was removed revealing the need for extensive timber replacement. Installation of the aluminium Nu-wall cladding involved construction tolerances of less than 3 millimetres requiring very precise workmanship. All blocks were also found to be non-compliant with passive fire requirements of the building code, so further corrective work was undertaken as a variation.
